Welcome to the home page of the API Subcommittee on Corrosion & Materials (SCCM).  The SCCM conducts research and develops industry standards that address issues related to refining process equipment.   Issues of particular interest to the SCCM include: fabrication requirements, corrosion mechanisms, equipment reliability, refractory systems, and reducing capital and maintenance costs.  Each meeting of the committee provides a forum for an information exchange on problems and opportunities where industry experts share experiences from operations around the world.

The SCCM work program of documents includes:

  • RP 571 - Damage Mechanisms Affecting Fixed Equipment in the Refining Industry
  • RP 582 - Welding Guidelines for the Chemical, Oil, and Gas Industries
  • RP 932-B - Design, Materials, Fabrication, Operation, and Inspection Guidelines for Corrosion Control in Hydroprocessing Reactor Effluent Air Cooler (REAC) Systems
  • RP 934-A - Materials & Fabrication Requirements for 2 1/4Cr-1Mo and 3Cr-1Mo Steel Heavy Wall Pressure Vessels for High-Temperature, High Pressure Hydrogen Service
  • RP 936 - Refractory Installation Quality Control Guidelines
  • TR 938-C - Use of Duplex Stainless Steels in the Oil Refining Industry
  • Publ 939-B - Repair and Remediation Strategies for Equipment Operating in Wet H2S Service
  • RP 941 - Steels for Hydrogen Service at Elevated Temperatures and pressures in Petroleum Refineries and Petrochemical Plants
  • RP 945 - Avoiding Cracking in Amine Units

Chair:  Hearl Mead - Shell Global Solutions
Vice-Chair:  Dave Cooke - Chevron
