Although not a subcommittee of the OTC, the API Transportation and Storage Corrosion Committee advises the OTC on corrosion mitigation techniques for all aspects of aboveground and underground tanks, control of external corrosion on underground structures (coatings and cathodic protection), atmospheric corrosion control (painting), internal corrosion control (coatings and inhibitors), ERW pipe (stress corrosion cracking), metallurgy of piping systems, etc.

The committee maintains liaison with the corrosion controls activities in the API Committee on Refinery Equipment, the AGA Pipeline Research Corrosion Committee, the Corrosion Group of the American Society for Testing and Materials, and the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (particularly its Underground Corrosion Committee). It reports to the OTC, and its chairman is a liaison member of that committee.
