May 01, 2009:

February 27, 2009:
The 2009 Incident Release Survey has been modified to expand on fitting related failures for the facility item involved. Click on the Documents link on the left and then click on "other files" to see the modified Incident survey.

February 19, 2009:
The 2009 Incident Release Survey has been created for all incidents beginning in 2009. Several changes have been made to the survey and have been highlighted in gold. Click on the Documents link on the left and then click on "other files" to see the new Incident survey.

February 12, 2009:
The presentation to the Pipeline Safety Trust and the comments submitted to PHMSA on the proposed 7000-1 form have been posted. Please select "documents" on the left, then scroll to the end of the page to view these documents.

January 21, 2009:
The deadline to submit data to the PPTS (incidents, infrastructure, and data certification) for 2008 data is Feb 28, 2009. Applications for the Environmental Award are due by March 2. For more information on the Environmental Award, contact Karen Simon (simonk@api.org).

Data Mining Team will meet with PHMSA in Washington DC on April 2.

March 8, 2007:
The Newest release survey has been created for 2007 and future incidents. The small form (PART SM) in the Newest release is only visible for small spills to unregulated gathering lines.
The Newest release record also has a DIRT-lite form, that gives participants the option of entering their DIRT data (third party excavation) without re-entering the same data again in CGA. Click on the Documents link on the left and then click on "other files" to see the new Incident survey.

February 23, 2007:
The 2006 Infrastructure survey has been created.

February 16, 2007:
The deadline for the environmental awards is Feb 21, 2007. The deadline to submit data to the PPTS (incidents, infrastructure, and data certification) for 2006 data is Feb 28, 2007.

January 24, 2007:
The PPTS database is up.


January 5, 2007:
The PPTS database will not be available for incident reporting until after the 18th of January due to modifications being made to the survey. Please do not attempt to enter any data as this may cause you to re-enter your data again after the modifications have been made to the database.

The API/AOPL Data Mining Team just completed work on a fact sheet (PPTS Fact Sheet 2004-3). Please click on the "Documents" link to the left to see the advisories and fact sheets. This new fact sheet is available to the public and contains a roll call of the PPTS participants.

April 12, 2004:

The API/AOPL Data Mining Team just completed work on 2 additional advisories (Advisories 2004-1 and 2004-2) using 1999-2001 PPTS data (click on the "Documents" link to the left to see the advisories). PPTS participants are encouraged to make copies of the advisories for internal distribution within their own company but should not distribute the advisories externally. Only PPTS participants can access the advisories (you must logon to the system to gain access).

February 6, 2004:

The Data Mining Team will hold a meeting on February 19, 2004 from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at API headquarters in Washington DC.

January 16, 2004:

Posted the latest 2003 infrastructure survey form on the web site (Click on Documents to get to the form). The data are due February 27, 2004.

November 25, 2003:
The Oil & Gas Journal has published an article about the PPTS in the November 3, 2003 edition (pages 58-63). The article was written by Tom Kelly (Colonial Pipeline Co.), Marty Matheson (API), Jill Niswonger (Marathon Ashland Pipe Line LLC), Cheryl Trench (Allegro Energy Consulting), and Mark Weesner (ExxonMobil Pipeline Co.).

October 7, 2003:
The API/AOPL Data Mining Team just completed work on 3 additional advisories (Advisories 2003-8, 2003-9, and 2003-10) using 1999-2001 PPTS data (click on the "Documents" link to the left to see the advisories). PPTS participants are encouraged to make copies of the advisories for internal distribution within their own company but should not distribute the advisories externally. Only PPTS participants can access the advisories (you must logon to the system to gain access).

October 6, 2003:
The next Data Mining Team meeting in scheduled for November 5 (8:30 am to 5:00 pm) at API headquarters in Washington DC. Jeff Wiess and Roger Little (from the OPS) will be joining the meeting.

July 30, 2003:
The Data Mining Team had a conference call on July 25 to discuss various advisories as well as changes to the survey form. The Data Mining Team approved a change to the form by collecting the size of the release for ANY spill (previously, the size of the release was required only for spills greater than or equal to 5 barrels). The Data Mining Team approved making the change starting will 2003 incidents. The new web site has already been modified to reflect this change. The new survey form is also posted on this web site in MS Word and PDF format.

July 25, 2003:

The Incident data has been fully migrated to the new PPTS web site. Please go back to the site and review your data. Some incidents which were previously submitted are now "incomplete" because the new system caught errors that were not seen by the old system! Thank you for all your hard work!

May 19, 2003:

The API/AOPL Data Mining Team met at API headquarters in Washington DC on May 13-14. More data analysis is forthcoming and discussion ensued about more PPTS advisories. The Data Mining Team also met for 2 hours with representatives from the OPS. Also, new versions of the advisories have been posted on the web site. The new versions carry a copyright notice. PPTS participants are encouraged to make copies of the advisories for internal distribution within their own company but should not distribute the advisories externally.

April 28, 2003:
The API/AOPL Data Mining Team has published three short, actionable advisories based on PPTS analytical work. To access those advisories, please click on the "documents" link in the left-hand navigation bar. Please pass on these advisories to appropriate personnel within your company. Appropriate personnel may include those responsible for integrity management, integrity assessment, risk assessment, and public relations. These advisories have also been provided to the CEOs who participate in the leadership of the API and AOPL pipeline program.

April 22, 2003:
The next Data Mining Team meeting in scheduled for May 13 (8:30 am to 5:30 pm) and 14 (8:30 am to 2:00 pm) at API headquarters in Washington DC. Jeff Wiess and Roger Little will be joining the meeting on May 14.

April 5, 2003:
The Data Mining Team meeting in March was very successful. Look for more reports and analysis coming out soon as a result.

February 26, 2003:
The deadline for data is February 28. The Data Mining Team will meet in Houston on March 5-6 to further discuss the PPTS data, progress, and definitions.

February 4, 2003:
The Workshop was a great success! the Data Mining Team met after the workshop's conclusion and made some changed to the incident as well as the infrastructure forms. Please download the latest copy of the form. API will try to program the changes into the software as soon as possible.

January 27, 2003:
The beta web site is up and running with new and improved features. Do not forget the PPTS Workshop in Houston on January 29.

November 6, 2002:
The Data Mining Team met in Houston on October 30-31. The team finalized 3 one-page papers using the PPTS data. Click here to go to the papers.

The next Data Mining team meeting is scheduled for Houston on August 20, 2002.

July 2, 2002:
