Coalitions and Affiliations

AIM is the worldwide authority on automatic identification, data collection, and networking in a mobile environment. AIM is the global trade association of providers and users of components, networks, systems, and services that manage the collection and integration of data with information management systems. AIM strives to stimulate the understanding, adoption, and use of technology and member company products and services through setting standards, marketing and education, market research, advocacy, and information technology industry relations.

The Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12
develops standards for cross-industry electronic exchange of business information. During the past 20 years, ASC X12 made the first generation of e-commerce standards a reality. Today, more then 300,000 companies have saved billions of dollars and expanded their market reach by incorporating Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) into their business operations and trading partner relationships.

DISA The Data Interchange Standards Association (DISA) is home for the development of cross-industry electronic data interchange standards that provide the foundation to enable individuals, companies and organizations to participate in global e-business. Join us in driving global e-business.

UN/CEFACT
is the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business. It is open to participation from Member States, intergovernmental organizations, and sectoral and industry associations recognized by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC). The Centre's objective is to be "inclusive" and it actively encourages organizations to contribute and help develop its recommendations and standards.

The participation of many private-sector associations in UN/CEFACT's work at the policy level, and of hundreds of private-sector technical experts in UN/CEFACT working groups, is a unique feature of the Centre which is forging new cooperative relationships between private business and public organizations.

Within the United Nations, UN/CEFACT is located in the Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE), which is part of the United Nations network of regional commissions. These regional commissions report to the highest United Nations body in the area of economics, trade and development: ECOSOC. This is the ideal location for developing practical recommendations for action because, within various work areas in the United Nations system, the regional commissions have the closest links to national Governments at the expert level.

USCIB is the United States Council for International Business.

Alliances

CIDX - In 1985 a group of chemical companies and their trading partners joined forces to form CIDX™— an organization dedicated to making it easier to do business electronically. Ever since that first meeting, members have reviewed and developed conventions for the use of EDI and Bar Coding, as well as advanced business processes to eliminate paperwork, improve data accuracy and increase productivity, thereby reducing their costs of doing business. CIDX™ held its first XML education sessions in 1999, and in 2000 CIDX™ expanded its mission to become a robust standards body responsible for ongoing support, enhancement and further development of Chem eStandards™.

Energistics - This is an international not-for-profit membership consortium which enables the rapid development, implementation and use of energy eStandards - information exchange and interoperability standards for the upstream E&P industry. Central to Energistic's capabilities is the creation and support of collaborative communities that focus on agreements for managing and exchanging energy technical and regulatory information.

Founded by five major oil companies in 1990 and originally called POSC, Energistics has a global membership of more than 50 energy related companies and has headquarters in Houston and an office in London.

For more information visit Energistics 's web site at http://www.energistics.org/ or contact Energistic's at info@energistics.org .
