API XML Training Provided by Software AG’s XMLAcademy
The training offers courses for both managers interested in learning more about XML, such as XML Enterprise Strategies for Business as well as courses for technical staff looking to develop or enhance their XML skills, including XML Introduction, Presentation of XML, Using Style Sheets, XML Schema Development, and XML Application Programming with DOM and SAX. UPDATE: Business Process Guidelines for the Invoice Cancellation Process

Based on feedback regarding the August 26 posting of draft Business Process Guidelines (BPG) governing the Invoice Cancellation Process for use with RP 3901 XML Transaction Standards, an alternative guideline has been developed for review. This BPG document will be discussed during the BPWG session at the General Meeting in September. Feedback may be sent to Jana Schey at: jschey@ofs-portal.com

Business Process Guidelines for the Invoice Cancellation Process
The PIDX Business Process Work Group has developed the draft Business Process Guidelines governing the Invoice Cancellation Process for use with RP 3901 XML Transaction Standards. New Invoice Response Schema
The new Invoice Response schema, and supporting changes made to PIDXLib and PIDXCodeList, are accessible here for review, prior to a vote on approval of these changes by the Business Messages Workgroup at the PIDX Fall Conference 2005. The InvoiceResponse schema has been altered to support the requests made at the PIDX Spring Conference 2005.

Also, a Usage Guideline document has been produced that illustrates how the InvoiceResponse document should be used.

PIDX Adopts AS2 as an additional Transport, Routing, and Packaging (TRP) approach within PIDX Recommended Practice 3901 - PIDX XML Transaction Standards
At the PIDX Spring Meeting, the Business Messages Workgroup adopted AS2 as an additional PIDX approved TRP approach in addition to currently approved RosettaNet 2.0. In order to satisfy PIDX requirements, AS2 implementations must digitally sign message content, use MDNs, use MDNs asynchronously, digitally sign MDNs, encrypt (Standard method is S/MIME over HTTP).

PIDX Adopts new XML schemas for Pipeline Nominations
At the PIDX Spring Meeting, new XML schemas for pipeline nominations were adopted. The schemas can be downloaded for free on the PIDX XML Standards page. The new schemas include:

PipelineNominationCreate.xsd
PipelineNominationResponse.xsd
PipelineNominationChange.xsd
PipelineSchedule.xsd

With the addition of these new schemas, Recommended Practice 3901 - PIDX XML Transaction Standards is now in Version 1.3, which is fully backwards compatible to Version 1.2. Each file has been updated with the approval date, which is 4/20/2005. The PIDXLIB.xsd and PIDXCodeLists.xsd have also been updated to refect these changes.

Pipeline Schemas Revised
Four new XML schemas, including PipelineSchedule, PipelineNominationCreate, PipelineNominationChange, and PipelineNominationResponse that have been submitted as drafts by PIPENET SIG have been slightly revised based on user input.

In the spirit of open, industry-wide collaboration, anyone with an interest in pipeline schema development is encouraged to review the schemas and submit recommendations/comments/questions to pidx-pipenet@listserve.api.org. It is the intent of the usiness Messages Workgroup to vote on approval of these schemas at the PIDX Spring 2004 Conference.

New Pipeline Nomination XML Schemas being Developed
The Pipeline Workgroup within the PIDX Downstream SIG is working to develop new pipleine transportation XML transaction documents. These documents include NominationCreate, NominationChange, NominationResponse, and Schedule. These documents will compliment the existing Custody Ticket for petroleum productions that is available within RP 3901 v 1.2. For information, contact Mark Edwards at mark.edwards@transport4.com

Proposed PIDX Revisions to UNSPSC Segment 71
The PIDX Services Classification Task Force has developed proposed revisions to UNSPSC Segment 71- Mining and Oil and Gas Services. The proposed revisions were submitted to UNSPSC for review and adoption. The new commodity classifications are expected to be approved and added to the UNSPSC code in early 2005.

The PIDX Downstream SIG has developed a draft Bill of Lading (BOL) document. The document is out for review, and will be discussed at the upcoming Downstream SIG Winter Meeting in San Diego, CA. For information concerning the schema, please contact Gary Bevers (gbevers@houston.rr.com)

PIDX to Act as Principle United Nations Standard Products and Services Code Representative of the Oil and Natural Gas Industry
The Uniform Code Council, Inc.® (UCC®) and API's Petroleum Industry Data Exchange (PIDX) today announced an agreement by which PIDX will develop the voluntary global classification standards of the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code® (UNSPSC®) for the oil and natural gas industry. “As a result of this agreement, an oil and natural gas industry product classification schema will be incorporated into the UNSPSC, ensuring continued strength and an increasing degree of robustness in the code set“ said EAN.UCC President Dennis Harrison.
