General Notice of
Antitrust Compliance It is the intention of the American Petroleum Institute that all activities conducted by its Committees, Subcommittees and Task Forces be in conformance with all Federal Antitrust Laws as identified in the API's Office of General Counsel publication Antitrust Compliance Guide. Items of particular importance and concern center around the following activities: Any effort undertaken, whether expressed or implied, that could be considered to restrain trace or act as a barrier to commerce to any individual or group of individuals will be avoided. Meetings of members will be structured. There should be proper notification, agenda, observance of rules of procedure and minutes of the meeting. Adherence to the business items on the agenda will avoid any appearance of conflict. Members must take special care to avoid making statements or engaging in conduct prohibited by API's policy. Should members have any doubt concerning the propriety of any matters under discussion at such meetings, they must immediately disassociate themselves from the discussion and, if necessary, leave the meeting. The API Committee Web Site provides a means for exchanging documents and information over the Internet in a secure process and it is not subject to the public domain. As such, API employees who oversee these committees must supervise all correspondence and publications presented on this site. Responsibility for compliance rests with every member of an API committee along with any invited guest(s) or participant(s). Suspected violations of this notice should be communicated to your company representative or the API employee responsible for the suspect committee site. This notice shall accompany any and all correspondence concerning the activities of API committees on the Internet. |
